Saccharomyces boulardii is in the kingdom fungi, in the phylum ascomycota, the subphylum saccharomycotina, class saccharomycetes,  order saccharomycetales, family of saccharomycetaceae, and finally in the genus saccharomyces. The kingdom of fungi is a kingdom of eukaryotic organisms with chitinous cell walls. The phylum ascomycota is commonly known as sac fungi. the subphylum saccharomycotina is when fungi form no ascocarps*. The subphylum only has one class which is saccharomycetes and it is also known as Hemiascomycetes. It is the budding yeasts. The order saccharomycetales is also the budding yeasts. The family saccharomycetaceae is simply budding yeasts again. The genus sacccharomyces is sugar fungi in latin. It includes many species of yeasts and they are considered very important in food production. Finally it is the species of saccharomyces Boulardii, closely related to saccharomyces cerevisiae.
